Roaming partners

Value-added services

Roaming is a service that lets you use your mobile phone or SIM-card in other GSM networks with which Golden Telecom GSM has established roaming agreements (GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900 or Thuraya satellite standard).
The list of countries and operators is constantly getting longer so that you can use your phone and the same phone number in more countries worldwide.

What should I do before leaving Ukraine?

  • Make certain you have a sufficient balance on your account.
  • Find out what standard is used in your destination country.
  • You can use a GSM 1800 standard phone or a dual-band GSM 900/1800 phone within GSM-1800 standard networks. If you are going to a country where the Golden Telecom GSM roaming partner is a GSM 900 or 1900 standard operator (GSM 1900 is a North-American GSM standard), you will need a GSM 900 or GSM 1900 single-band mobile phone or a dual-band (tri-band) mobile phone.
  • To use roaming services within the Thuraya satellite system, you will need a dual-band phone capable of operating simultaneously in GSM standard and the Thuraya system.
Detailed roaming conditions and tariffs are available at the Customer Service Center.

How do I receive calls on my phone when I am in roaming?

When you are using roaming in other countries, your mobile phone number stays the same. To call your phone from Kiev or Odessa, the caller should dial your usual local number. To call you from any location abroad, the caller should dial it as follows:
  +38039xxxxxxx
or in case you have a direct number:
  +38044XXXXXXX for Kiev subscribers;
  +38048XXXXXXX for Odessa subscribers.
The symbol "+" is the international access code within visited GSM network in any country.

How do I make a call from my mobile phone when I am in roaming?

When you are abroad you become a temporary subscriber of the local GSM operator and make calls under the rules of that GSM network. To make a local call or to call another country while abroad add the country code followed by the city code and the number. For example, calling from Geneva to London you dial:
  +44171XXXXXXX, where
  • "+" is the international access code
  • 44 is the country code for the United Kingdom
  • 171 is the city code for London
  • XXXXXXX is a telephone number in London.
While roaming, please take into account the following roaming rules:

Be careful using Call Forwarding service when you are abroad. If you activate - "unconditional" Call Forwarding to your Kiev/Odessa local number (in other words, Forward All Calls), then Call Forwarding is carried out within the Golden Telecom GSM network and calls are paid in accordance with Call Forwarding tariffs. If you activate "conditional" Call Forwarding ("Call Forward when Busy", "Call Forward when Not Answered ", "Call Forward when there is No Connection (No Service)" or any other combination of conditions) or if your Voice Mail service is on, then higher tariffs are charged in accordance with double international rates even when the phone is switched off. Upon your return to Ukraine, Call Forwarding service will be charged as described above until your phone is registered in the Golden Telecom GSM network again.

We recommend you to cancel all your conditional Call Forwarding and Voice Mail modes before leaving Golden Telecom GSM network for roaming abroad (command #109# "SEND" for Voice Mail).
  • If automatic registration of your phone in a foreign network failed, use a MANUAL NETWORK SELECTION. Network selection procedure depends on your phone model and is described in your phone user's manual.
  • Many countries have strict limitations on the use of mobile phones. For example, you may not use it on planes and in hospitals. Many countries have banned the use of mobile phones while driving. Please be careful to adhere to the guidelines applicable in the country where you are staying.
  • While being in roaming a call to the Customer Service Center number (+380-44-4905000) is paid in accordance with international call tariffs to Ukraine from the country where you are staying.
